Tony The Tiger, A New VTuber Star?

In the latest move made by a corporation to seem like a real person, Kellogg’s has decided to launch the VTubing career of one of their cereal mascots, Tony the Tiger. On August 19 from 5-7 PM ET, Tony will be going head to head live with Twitch streamers Brennon “GoldGlove” O’Neill, Chrissy Costanza, and Jakeem “BigCheese” Johnson on Tony’s new Twitch channel.

They haven’t said the name of the game they will be playing, but it is a popular battle royale game, I would guess Fortnite. Tony will be interacting with the chat and will show off his gaming rig.

Personally, I hate this. I need big brands like this to stop pretending they are actual people. Some of the tweets where they beefed with other brands were kind of funny, but when they started interacting more with real people it got weird. I would rather watch Tony the Tiger stream playing with other brand mascots.

Let’s get Snap, Crackle, and Pop out here, maybe Toucan Sam could join in too. If you have to do stunts like this, then keep it in a sort of brand universe. Is this just me? Do people really enjoy this sort of thing? Let me know if there’s something that I’m missing because this whole thing is just unsettling on a whole new level for me.
