Toons and Chaos Cards are Making a Comeback with TOON CHAOS

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans are about to get a huge gift from Konami. On June 19, the new booster set Toon Chaos will launch and I’m extremely excited. As you may guess, the first part of the name refers to some new Toon Monsters inspired by Pegasus’ deck in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the manga and anime. Toon Black Luster Soldier will be joining the ranks and he’s going to be similar to my favorite card Envoy of the Beginning with the ability to banish an opponent’s monster. There will also be new Spell Cards to “let you channel surf until you find the Toons you want, right out of your Deck!” Could we see a big return for Toons?

In addition to Toons, fans will also see the more Chaos cards rise form the dark (and light). I loved the Chaos archetype (is it an archetype?) where the monsters were powerful but required to be Special Summoned by banishing Dark and Light Monsters. This included the aforementioned Envoy of the Beginning, Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End, Chaos Sorcerer and so many other awesome cards.

While these cards will make up the bulk of the set, there will be other cards to help prepare for Rise of the Duelist set such as some new Noble Knights and a reprint of Pot of Extravagance. Toon Chaos will contain 60 cards in total and introduce the Collector’s Rare rarity into the TCG. There will also be 15 cards that “will appear in a glorious new form you’ll have to see to believe!” Each booster pack will include 1 Foil and 6 Rares for a total of 7 cards.

  • Rarity Breakdown:

    • 10 Ultra Rares

    • 15 Super Rares

    • 35 Rares

    • *15 cards in the set are also available as Collector’s Rares
