Toyota And Uber Team Up To Plan For Driverless Cars By 2021

Toyota and Uber are teaming up, and together, they're hoping to offer driver-less cars to consumers by 2021. The collaboration comes with Toyota investing $500 million in Uber's self-driving car program (via TechRadar) with the trade-off being that Uber users will get rides from self-driving Toyota vehicles in the future.

That seems really soon, but apparently in line with Toyota's plans to make viable self-driving tech by 2020. I'm excited for it, especially considering I don't see a self-driving car becoming commercially viable for me anytime soon. Plus taking a driver-less Uber would eliminate the awkwardness of talking to the stranger who picks you up, which is great. Would you trust a driver-less car to transport you to a location?
