Trailer For a Fantastical Coming-of-Age Series I'M A VIRGO, About a Giant Living in Oakland, CA
Prime Video released a trailer for its mythical coming-of-age comedy I’m A Virgo, which is about a giant 13-foot-tall man living in Oakland, Ca. This series looks weird as hell, and that’s why I’m in! It looks like a very interesting, fun, and unique movie!
I’m A Virgo is “a darkly comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride about Cootie (Jharrel Jerome), a 13-foot-tall young Black man in Oakland, California. Having grown up hidden away, passing time on a diet of comic books and TV shows, he escapes to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world.”
As he embarks on his life journey, “he forms friendships, finds love, navigates awkward situations, and encounters his idol, a real-life superhero named The Hero, played by Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, The Righteous Gemstones). I’m A Virgo is a mythical odyssey that questions the purpose of the mythical odyssey.”
The series is created, written, and executive produced by Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You), and he directed all seven episodes. The rest of the cast includes Brett Gray (On My Block, Star Trek: Prodigy), Kara Young (The Punisher, ), Allius Barnes (PEN15), Olivia Washington (Breaking), Mike Epps (The Upshaws, Dolemite Is My Name), and Carmen Ejogo (True Detective, Fantastic Beasts).
All seven episodes of the Amazon Original series will be available exclusively on Prime Video on June 23.
