Trailer For a Wine Country-Set Neo Noir Mystery Thriller BRUT FORCE
XYZ Films has released a trailer for an upcoming film Brut Force, which is a neo noir mystery thriller that’s set in wine country around California's central coast. The title of the film is actually a play on words as “Brut” is a term for sparkling wine meaning "dry, raw, or unrefined" flavor.
The movie follows “newly-fired reporter Sloane Sawyer (Lelia Symington), who hears that someone has been harassing vineyard workers in her hometown, so she starts investigating. When haunting beauty Dulce goes missing and the alluring Tico Reyes shows up looking for her, Sloane is drawn down a twisting trail of violence and crime, determined to help those she’s come to care about in this town… before it's too late.”
The film was directed by Eve Symington, and she explains: "Beneath the surface of California's 'wine country' bubble complex histories, racism, class struggles, and moral grey areas, all of which makes this world ripe for a modern noir story. The lead character… is a modern, female take on a classic noir detective."
Yeah, I think wine country is a great setting for a story like this, so it’s unfortunate that the movie stars Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey. The movie also stars Lelia Symington as Sloane, Vico Escorcia, and Patricia Velásquez. Regardless of Posey’s involvement, I’ll give the film a shot. I try to support the indie filmmakers out there.
XYZ Films will release Brut Force direct-to-VOD on April 21st, 2022.
