Trailer for Adam Driver's Riveting Political Thriller THE REPORT
If you’re a fan of investigative political thrillers like All The Presidents Men, The Post, Snowden, and The Insider, The Report is a film that you’ve got to see.
I had a chance to see the movie at Sundance this year, and it was a fantastic, well-made film that told the gripping true story of how the CIA’s brutal use of illegal torture on people after the 9/11 attacks was uncovered. You can read my review for it here.
The movie written and directed by screenwriter Scott Z. Burns (The Informant, Side Effects, Contagion), and it has an impressive ensemble cast that includes Adam Driver, Annette Bening, Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Tim Blake Nelson, Corey Stoll, and more.
The Report is a riveting thriller based on actual events. Idealistic staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) to lead an investigation of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, which was created in the aftermath of 9/11. Jones’ relentless pursuit of the truth leads to explosive findings that uncover the lengths to which the nation’s top intelligence agency went to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a brutal secret from the American public.
The film utilized more than a decades worth of real information to give us the best possible account of what happened possible. The initial report was over 7,000 pages long, and it ended up being condensed into a 525-page report.
Amazon is releasingThe Report in theaters on November 15th and then will be made available on Prime Video November 29th.
