Trailer for Adam Scott and Craig Robinson's X-FILES-Type Comedy GHOSTED

Last August, we reported about a new comedy series called Ghosted being developed by Fox that would star Adam Scott and Craig Robinson. Well, things have been going well for the production and a new trailer has just been released.

While I love the actors and still look forward to the show, it seems a bit stale from the trailer. There are a few funny moments, but the trailer almost seemed like everyone was a bit tired. A lot rides on the two main characters, who I love. Adam Scott is one of my favorite actors in Hollywood and Craig Robinson is a strong comedic actor, but neither really seems to bring the power that I'm looking for in a series of this caliber. Here's the synopsis:

Starring Craig Robinson (“The Office,” “This Is the End”) and Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation,” “Big Little Lies”), GHOSTED is a single-camera, action-comedy about the unlikely partnership between two down-on-their-luck polar opposites tasked with an even more unlikely mission: saving the human race from aliens. LEROY WRIGHT (Robinson) is a cynical skeptic and former missing persons detective, who, if we’re speaking frankly, thinks that “aliens” are a big ole bunch of B.S. and that people who believe in them are certifiably nuts...People like MAX JENNIFER (Scott). Max is a genius “true believer” in the paranormal who’s convinced his wife was abducted by aliens. At low points in their lives, both Leroy and Max are recruited by CAPTAIN AVA LAFREY (Ally Walker, “Colony,” “Sons of Anarchy”), a take-no-prisoners, former Air Force test pilot and head of the Bureau Underground, a secret government organization investigating paranormal cases. Lafrey, along with her staff – BARRY SHAW (Adeel Akhtar, “Unforgotten,” “The Night Manager”), an overly friendly forensic pathologist, and DELILAH WARD, a highly opinionated tech specialist – will support Leroy and Max in their quest for answers. Now, this heroic group of underdogs will look into “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles that often leads them to scary, thrilling and hilarious places, as they attempt to uncover the truth and keep the earth rotating on its axis for at least one more day.

The show is said to be a comedic X-Files and so many questions are brought up. When I first heard it was called Ghosted, I assumed maybe ghosts were involved, but it seems to be more about aliens. My mistake. Next, it seems that the two characters are brought on from the outside world knowing nothing of the world they are getting into. It's an origin story of sorts. My issue is they don't explain why they are the only ones who can do what they are called to do. They just say that those two are the only ones who can do it. I still want to believe in the series, because there are funny moments, but I would rather have an X-Files comedy series like Middleman come back instead.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. I do like the concept and the actors, and I know that if given time it could grow into something really great. But, if there is one thing Fox does not know how to do, it's nurturing a series with low ratings into growing to something great. If it doesn't meet their standards fast, it's headed to the graveyard.
