Trailer For Alan Ritchson's WAR MACHINE Pits Elite Soldiers Against an Unstoppable Robot Hunter

The first trailer for War Machine has landed, and while the title might trigger immediate Marvel associations, this movie is very much its own beast.

This new action thriller from Netflix leans hard into old-school sci-fi survival energy, and it’s got classic Predator vibes, but with a towering killer robot stalking a group of soldiers who definitely weren’t trained to take it on.

Leading the charge is Alan Ritchson, who plays a U.S. Army Ranger known only as “81.” He’s deep into the brutal final phase of Ranger selection when the exercise goes completely off the rails. What’s supposed to be a test of endurance and teamwork turns into a fight to stay alive as his squad is hunted by a massive mech loaded with advanced weaponry and zero mercy.

Ritchson’s physical presence does a lot of the heavy lifting here, and it’s clear that brains and brawn are both going to be essential if anyone’s walking away from this alive.

The story involves a small, highly trained unit. An isolated environment. An enemy they don’t understand and can’t outgun. It’s the survival-focused edge that feels ripped from late-80s and early-90s action sci-fi, just filtered through a modern lens with slick visuals and heavy firepower.

Netflix’s official logline reads: "During the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat."

The film is directed by Patrick Hughes, who knows his way around loud, muscular action, and the supporting cast includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber.

Ritchson is best known for playing Jack Reacher in Reacher, the Prime Video series where he embodies the wandering ex-military problem solver with a sharp mind and an intimidating build. That same physical authority and grounded intensity seem like a natural fit for War Machine, even if the enemy this time around is more steel than flesh.

War Machine is sure to deliver a relentless sci-fi action film that could be a very fun ride when it hits Netflix on March 6th.
