Trailer For Angelina Jolie’s Revenge Drama WITHOUT BLOOD Starring Salma Hayek Pinault
Salma Hayek Pinault has some old scores to settle in Without Blood, and the new trailer puts her face-to-face with a man connected to the brutal night that destroyed her family.
Brainstorm Media has released the official trailer for Angelina Jolie’s latest directorial effort, a tense revenge drama adapted from Alessandro Baricco’s novel of the same name.
Unfortunately, the early reception hasn’t exactly been encouraging. Without Blood currently sits at 33% on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, the premise and the pairing of Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir make this one worth keeping an eye on, especially for viewers who like stripped-down stories about revenge, guilt, and the damage people carry home from war.
Set in an unnamed country during the early 20th century, Without Blood begins with violence. Gunmen arrive at an isolated farmhouse looking for revenge against a doctor living there with his son and daughter.
The doctor desperately attempts to protect his children, but the confrontation erupts into gunfire and leaves a permanent mark on everyone involved.
Years later, Nina, played by Hayek Pinault, approaches a lottery seller named Tito, played by Bichir. Their conversation initially appears ordinary, but Nina didn’t find him by accident. She’s been searching for answers about what happened to her family, and Tito knows exactly who is standing in front of him.
Rather than turning the material into a sprawling war movie, Jolie has made an intimate chamber drama focused on the scars left after the fighting ends.
The story digs into family, violence, memory, guilt, and revenge, with much of its tension coming from the exchanges between Nina and Tito. One witnessed her family suffer. The other played a part in the horror she has spent years carrying with her.
Jolie wrote and directed Without Blood, adapting Baricco’s novel while retaining its parable-like approach. She previously directed In the Land of Blood and Honey, Unbroken, By the Sea, and First They Killed My Father, and war and its lasting human consequences have been recurring subjects throughout her filmmaking career.
Even with the rough reviews coming out of its festival run, there’s something compelling about watching two great performers sit across from each other while years of pain, fear, and buried history gradually come to the surface.
Brainstorm Media will release Without Blood in select theaters on September 18th, 2026.
