Trailer For Apple TV+ Doc Series MR. SCORSESE About The Legendary Filmmaker
Apple TV+ has dropped the official trailer for its upcoming 5-part documentary series Mr. Scorsese, and it looks like an essential watch for film lovers. Coming from award-winning director Rebecca Miller, the series takes a deep dive into the life, work, and artistic evolution of one of cinema’s most iconic filmmakers, Martin Scorsese.
The trailer opens with Scorsese himself reflecting on his journey. "I knew I could express myself with pictures, but I had to find my own way..."
From there, the series promises to explore how his personal experiences, obsessions, and creative drive shaped the groundbreaking films that redefined modern cinema.
According to Apple’s official synopsis: “Mr. Scorsese is a 5-part documentary event of one man through the lens of his work, exploring the many facets of a visionary who redefined filmmaking, including his extraordinary career and unique personal history.
“With exclusive, unrestricted access to Martin Scorsese's private archives, the doc is anchored by extensive conversations with the filmmaker himself & never-before-seen interviews with friends, family and creative collaborators including Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto, along with his children, wife Helen Morris and close childhood friends.”
What makes this documentary especially exciting is the lineup of voices contributing to the story. From longtime collaborators like Robert De Niro and Thelma Schoonmaker to modern stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, the series pulls together an incredible roster of talent who have been shaped by or worked alongside Scorsese.
The inclusion of never-before-seen interviews, as well as intimate conversations with his family and childhood friends, gives the series a personal edge that goes beyond just celebrating the career highlights.
Miller, known for films like Personal Velocity and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, crafts a portrait that feels both epic and intimate. With its world premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival, Mr. Scorsese is already being positioned as one of the year’s most significant documentary events.
Scorsese has already left a massive mark on the industry with masterpieces like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Departed, and his recent Killers of the Flower Moon. Now, with Mr. Scorsese, fans will get a rare, inside look at the man behind the camera, the themes that haunt his films, and the legacy he continues to build.
All five episodes of Mr. Scorsese will begin streaming on Apple TV+ on October 17.
