Trailer For Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart's Lizzie Borden Movie LIZZIE

I'm sure you're all familiar with the haunting nursery rhyme, "Lizzie Borden took an axe, And gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, She gave her father forty-one."

The story of Lizzie Borden has been reimagined with some new twists to the story in an upcoming film called Lizzie, which stars Chloë Sevigny in the role of the suspected murderer who was accused of hacking up her mother and father, and Kristen Stewart in the role of the family maid, Bridget Sullivan.

I had a chance to see the film at Sundance earlier this year and I thought that it was an interesting take on the story, although it did seem like it was very long and drawn out. In Corrin's review for the film, she said:

Lizzie is an artsy period piece full of frustratingly long pauses and attempts at making an old legend modern and erotic. It just doesn't work. It feels like the writers are grasping at straws, and instead of creating intrigue by presenting a possible scenario that drove Lizzie to murder her parents, it makes the whole story seem far less interesting.

This is the synopsis:

Academy Award nominee Chloë Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry, “Big Love”) stars as Lizzie Borden, the notorious woman at the heart of one of the most enduring mysteries in American history. After a lifetime of loneliness, Lizzie finds a kindred spirit in housemaid Bridget Sullivan (Kristen Stewart) and their secret intimacy sparks an unthinkable act. Director Craig William Macneill (The Boy (2015), “Channel Zero: Candle Cove”) explores the days leading up to the savage crimes in a dark tale of repression, exploitation and thwarted dreams.

Lizzie, which also stars Jamey SheridanFiona ShawKim DickensDenis O’Hare and Jeff Perry, opens in theaters on September 14, 2018. Watch the trailer below and let us know if it looks like something you'd be interested in watching.
