Trailer for Colin Farrell's Sci-Fi Drama AFTER YANG Which Explores What It Means to Be Human

A24 has released a trailer for a beautiful-looking sci-fi film titled After Yang, which explores family and what it means to be human.

The film is based on the short story “Saying Goodbye to Yang” written by Alexander Weinstein. The story is set in a world where robots are purchased as live-in babysitters for children. It follows married couple Jake (Colin Farrell) and Kyra (Jodie Turner-Smith), who “purchase Yang (Justin H. Min) as a babysitter for their adopted daughter Mika (Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja) to help her stay in touch with her Chinese heritage. When Yang begins to malfunction, Jake goes on a journey to find a way to fix him, and in the process discovers a distance between him and his family he didn’t realize existed.”

The movie was directed by Kogonada (Columbus), and the movie has been getting rave reviews and it looks like a wonderful uplifting movie. It premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, and it also stars Haley Lu Richardson, Sarita Choudhury, and Clifton Collins Jr.

After Yang opens on March 4 in theaters and on Showtime.
