Trailer For Daisy Ridley's OPHELIA which is a Reimagining of Shakespeare’s HAMLET

The first trailer has been released for Daisy Ridley’s upcoming film Ophelia. This movie is a reimagining of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and it puts the focus on the character Ophelia and tells the classic story for her perspective.

I had the opportunity to see this film at Sundance earlier this year and I thought it was great! Ridley easily gives the best performance of her career because it’s actually a meaty role that challenges her as an actor. The move also stars Naomi Watts, Tom Felton, and Clive Owen, who are also all great in the film.

Here’s the synopsis:

Something is rotten in medieval-era Denmark, where political intrigue swirls around the imperial court like dark magic. Amid it all, the queen’s brightest lady-in-waiting, Ophelia, finds herself drawn to Hamlet, the charismatic and elusive crown prince. As their secretive love affair takes flight, betrayal strikes the court, threatening to derail their union and devastate the royal family for good. Caught between her desires and her loyalty, Ophelia has to decide where her devotion will ultimately lie.

You can read our review of the film here. The movie was directed by Claire McCarthy and there’s no release date yet.

This movie isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a fan of Shakespeare, Daisy Ridley, or any of the other actors, it’s definitely worth checking out.
