If you’re into slow-burn psychological thrillers with that classic Hitchcock flavor, you’ll want to check out the trailer for Death Among the Pines.

This indie mystery comes from filmmaker and actor Nathan Shepka, who not only directs but also stars in the film. It’s the latest project from the same creative team behind this year’s gothic horror The Baby in the Basket, and it looks like another tense, atmospheric ride packed with secrets and suspicion.

The story unfolds on a stormy night when a stranger, claiming car trouble, knocks on the door of Angela’s secluded countryside cottage.

Angela, played by Nicolette McKeown, hesitantly lets him in to get out of the rain. But before she can even process the situation, a police officer shows up at her door asking questions while hunting for an escaped criminal. It doesn’t take long for Angela to start piecing things together, and that’s when paranoia and danger begin to creep in.

The trailer’s pacing mirrors the best kind of suspense: it starts quietly, inviting the viewer into a seemingly ordinary situation, before tightening the tension until you can practically feel the storm closing in. The tagline reads: “Some secrets should stay buried.”

Death Among the Pines also stars Nicolette McKeown, Stephen Kerr, and Olly Bassi. The film was written by Tom Jolliffe and Nathan Shepka.

Death Among the Pines is already available to stream directly on Prime Video. So if you’re in the mood for a rainy-night mystery filled with tension, suspicion, and a few buried secrets, this one’s ready for your watchlist.
