Trailer for Disneynature's New Animal Documentaries ELEPHANT and DOLPHIN REEF

As you know, people aren’t getting out much these days. Lots of people are locked away in their homes and in self-quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. People aren’t traveling, they aren’t taking vacations, and many people can’t even go out on nature walks or hike anymore. All of this in an effort to flatten the curve.

Well, thanks to TV we can escape to the outdoors and watch all of the wonderful beautiful things in the world that we’re missing. Disneynature has released a trailer promoting two new nature documentaries that you might enjoy watching while stuck in the house.

These new docs are Elephant, which centers on and African elephant named Shani and her son Jimo as they make the journey across the Kalahari Desert. The other is titled Dolphin Reef, and it follows a young Pacific bottlenose dolphin named Echo, who is on the cusp of growing up. Both of these docs are being released on Disney+ tomorrow.

Elephant is narrated by Meghan Markle and directed by Mark Linfield & Vanessa Berlowitz while Dolphin Reef is narrated by Natalie Portman and directed by Alastair Fothergill & Keith Scholey. Here are the synopsis for each one:

“Elephant” follows African elephant Shani and her spirited son Jomo as their herd make an epic journey hundreds of miles across the vast Kalahari Desert. Led by their great matriarch, Gaia, the family faces brutal heat, dwindling resources and persistent predators, as they follow in their ancestor’s footsteps on a quest to reach a lush, green paradise.

“Dolphin Reef” dives under the sea to frolic with some of the planet’s most engaging animals: dolphins. Created with Disneynature’s signature storytelling style, the film introduces Echo, a young Pacific bottlenose dolphin who can’t quite decide if it’s time to grow up and take on new responsibilities. Dolphin society is tricky, and the coral reef that Echo and his family call home depends on all of its inhabitants to keep it healthy. But Echo has a tough time resisting the many adventures the ocean has to offer.

I enjoy watching the Disneynature docs. They are just wonderfully made films for the whole family, and these will provide a much-needed escape for the reality that we have currently found ourselves in.

Elephant and Dolphin Reef both hit Disney+ on April 3, 2020.
