Trailer for Disney's Daisy Ridley Inspirational Film YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA
Disney has released the first trailer for Daisy Ridley’s wonderful-looking inspirational drama Young Woman and the Sea. The film tells the extraordinary true story of Trudy Ederle, the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel.
This looks like one of those great inspirational sports drams that Disney used to make back in the day, and I love these kinds of movies! Also, this one has been scoring very high with test audiences!
Ridley takes on the role of an accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement – a 21-mile trek from France to England.
The movie was directed by Joachim Rønning (Tron: Ares) and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on the book Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World by Glenn Stout.
It was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, and Glenn Fleshler.
Young Woman and the Sea will open in select theaters May 31, 2024.
