Trailer for Eddie Murphy's MR. CHURCH: He Actually Made a Decent Looking Film!
It's been a long time since I've seen a good film from Eddie Murphy. He used to be one of my favorite comedians back in the day, but then Hollywood took him down a road of making one bad film after another. I was hoping that one day he would make a comeback, and his upcoming new film, Mr. Church, might be a starting point for that comeback.
Mr. Church tells the story of a unique friendship that develops when a little girl and her dying mother retain the services of a talented cook - Henry Joseph Church. What begins as a six month arrangement instead spans fifteen years, and creates a family bond that lasts forever.
This looks like a solid film that tells a sweet feel-good inspirational story. I like what I saw in the trailer, and it also has a great cast that also includes Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) as well as Natascha McElhone, Lucy Fry, Christian Madsen, and Xavier Samuel.
Samuel L. Jackson was originally supposed to star in the film, but Murphy replaced him after scheduling conflicts force Jackson to drop out. The movie hits theaters on September 16th.
