Trailer For GIRL CLIMBER, Red Bull’s Thrilling Doc on Rock Cimber Emily Harrington

IMAX has released the official trailer for Girl Climber, a powerful new documentary from Red Bull Studios that’s hitting IMAX theaters nationwide for a one-night-only screening on August 24th, 2025.

Directed by Jon Glassberg, the film dives into the life and grit of Emily Harrington, one of the best climbers in the world, as she takes on her most ambitious challenge yet, a career-defining 24-hour ascent of Yosemite’s legendary El Capitan.

While climbing films aren’t new, Girl Climber shines a spotlight on the underrepresented world of elite female climbers, giving audiences an intimate, high-stakes look at Harrington’s journey. I have nothing but respect for these athletes.

In the film: “Professional climber Emily Harrington has summited Everest, 8000-meter peaks, and dominated the competition circuit but, her greatest challenge extends beyond the physical.

“To cement her legacy in the male dominated world of elite rock climbing, she sets her sights on a career-defining 24-hour ascent of Yosemite's El Capitan. Caught between the pursuit of personal ambition and the ticking biological clock of life, a near-fatal fall forces Emily to reckon with what she’s willing to risk.

“Equal parts gripping survival story and intimate portrait, Girl Climber isn't just about breaking records, it’s about breaking barriers. Amongst Yosemite's legendary boy's club, Emily isn't just proving she is the best Girl Climber — she's proving she is one of the best. Period.”

The documentary, produced by Tyler Young and Philipp Manderla, first premiered at the 2025 Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, earning early praise for its mix of jaw-dropping climbing footage and deeply personal storytelling.

Alongside Harrington, the film features appearances from other top climbers, including Free Solo’s Alex Honnold, capturing the camaraderie and competition within the sport.

With its combination of breathtaking visuals and emotional weight, Girl Climber is shaping up to be a must-see climbing documentary on the big screen before landing on VOD later this year.
