Trailer For Guy Ritchie's New Star-Studded Action Crime Comedy THE GENTLEMEN
If you’re a fan of the older crime films of Guy Ritchie such as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, you’re probably going to enjoy his latest project, which is a crime action comedy called The Gentlemen. It used to be called Toff Guys, but obviously the title was changed.
The story for the film explores the “collision between European ‘old money’ and the modern marijuana industry. It follows a British drug lord attempting to cash out on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires.”
The film is said to be "in the vein of the “high-energy British gangster pics” and has an incredible cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, Collin Farrell, Henry Golding, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Jeremy Strong (Succession) and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes).
Here is the synopsis for The Gentlemen:
From writer/director Guy Ritchie comes THE GENTLEMEN, a star-studded sophisticated action comedy. THE GENTLEMEN follows American expat Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he’s looking to cash out of the business forever it triggers plots, schemes, bribery and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him (featuring an all-star ensemble cast including Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant).
The Gentlemen looks like it’ll be a blast! I love that Ritchie went back to his roots for this one and I’m pumped up about watching it! The film premieres in theaters on January 24, 2020.
