Trailer for HBO's Upcoming Superhero Film GRAY MATTER From the PROJECT GREENLIGHT Series
Max has released a trailer for the upcoming superhero sci-fi thriller Gray Matter, which comes from the revived Project Greenlight series. Project Greenlight follows first-time filmmakers who pitch and develop film projects, and Grey Matter is the project that they greenlit. It will mark the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Meko Winbush.
The story centers on Ayla and her daughter Aurora, “who both possess superhuman abilities. As Ayla attempts to train Aurora how to navigate these abilities, a tragic incident finds Aurora in control of her fate, and forces Ayla to confront the truth of her past. “
Superhero movies are a dime a dozen these days and this one doesn’t really look that interesting. It seems to have a very similar story to the 2018 Fast Color. It’s cool that the creative team behind it got to make their fist film, though!
Gray Matter stars Mia Isaac as Aurora, with Jessica Frances Dukes, Garret Dillahunt, Andrew Liner, Isabella Ferreira, Kristian Flores, Ezri Walker, and Allison Ye.
The screenplay is written by Philip Gelatt and it’s produced by Yolanda T. Cochran, Jessica Malanaphy, and Jeanette Volturno. HBO will debut the film on Max on July 13th, 2023.
