Trailer For Hulu's Crime Comedy Series OBITUARY - "To Live, She Writes. The Write, She Kills"
Hulu has released a trailer for a wicked fun-looking crime comedy series titled Obituary. The story centers on a young woman named Elvira Clancy, who writes obituaries for the local paper of a small town in Ireland. When the paper starts to struggle financially, Elvira is told that she’ll be paid per obituary, so to keep the money rolling in, she starts murdering people.
The synopsis reads: “24-year-old Elvira Clancy (Siobhán Cullen) adores her job writing obituaries, but lately, she’s been feeling unfulfilled. And when her newspaper falls on hard times, her boss tells her he is unable to keep her on the payroll. Overnight, she finds herself being paid per obituary. So, when she ‘accidentally’ kills a rude person in the town, she discovers she might have some untapped bloodlust! She relishes using ever more crafty methods to kill off the town's "unpleasant residents" — all while making them look like accidents. Unfortunately, a wrench lands in the works: the newspaper hires a suspicious new crime correspondent with a penchant for conspiracy theories. The worst part? Elvira really, really likes him…”
The movie was created by Ray Lawlor, who described the series as "a fun, darkly twisted drama that proudly allows me to transport some of the wit and characters I encounter every day in my hometown of Castlebar into the living rooms of the Irish people.”
The series also stars Michael Smiley, Ronan Raftery, Danielle Galligan, David Ganly, and Michael Hough. Hulu will debut Obituary on November 21st, 2023.
