Teaser Trailer For James Vanderbilt’s WWII Drama NUREMBURG Starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek

Sony Pictures Classics has released the first teaser trailer for Nuremberg, a psychological WWII drama written and directed by James Vanderbilt.

The film explores the infamous Nuremberg Trials, centering on a US Army psychiatrist’s attempt to understand the minds behind the Nazi regime. Rami Malek plays Dr. Douglas Kelley, who forms a disturbing connection with Hermann Göring, portrayed by Russell Crowe.

The teaser is brief, but loaded with tension and atmosphere. “The world will bear witness...” sets the tone for what looks to be a chilling and timely historical recounting.

Based on Jack El-Hai’s book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, the film dives into the moral and psychological complexities of post-Holocaust justice.

The synopsis reads: “The Allies, led by the unyielding chief prosecutor, Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon), have the task of ensuring the Nazi regime answers for the unveiled horrors of the Holocaust while a US Army psychiatrist (Malek) is locked in a dramatic psychological duel with the former Reichsmarschall Herman Göring (Crowe).”

The cast also includes Leo Woodall, Richard E. Grant, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, and Wrenn Schmidt.

Vanderbilt, best known for writing Zodiac, White House Down, and The Amazing Spider-Man films, directs his second feature following Truth. With Nuremberg, he steps into darker, more cerebral territory, confronting the roots of fascism and evil.

The film will premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival before hitting select US theaters on November 7, 2025.
