Trailer for Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway's WECRASHED, Which Tells the Crazy Story of WeWork

Apple TV+ has released the full trailer for the wild upcoming limited series, WeCrashed, which tells the crazy true story of the rise and fall of WeWork and the power couple who led the company. The series stars Jared Leto as CEO, Adam Neumann and Anne Hathaway as Rebekah Neumann.

The series is based on the podcast of the same name, and it follows “the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.”

The synopsis for the series reads, “Inspired by actual events — and the love story at the center of it all. WeWork grew from a single coworking space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year, its valuation dropped $40 billion. What happened?”

WeCrashed showrunners Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello previously talked about the story and characters, saying:

"What separates [WeCrashed] from other things we've seen in this genre is that we watch the story through the prism of this couple. We see this cult of personality within the business story, and then come home with them at night."

“We became even more fascinated with Rebekah than we were with Adam, which says quite a bit. There are such complexities to the character — it required an actor of unsurpassed skill to capture all of the shades."

WeWork was viewed as the next hot startup and was valued at nearly $50 billion at one time. However, the company pulled the plug on an initial public offering in September 2019 in the wake of revelations about the erratic management and personal enrichment of co-founder Adam Neumann, as well as questions about its business model and the role of funders like JPMorgan and Softbank. Around this time, Neumann resigned from the company, while WeWork accepted a bailout from SoftBank in October.

Leto and Hathaway are joined by cast members O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale) and America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), as well as Robert Emmet Lunney (Law & Order, Julia & Julia), and Theo Stockman (Bonding).

Lee Eisenberg (Little America) and Drew Crevello co-wrote, executive produced, and were co-showrunners on the series. John Requa and Glenn Ficarra will direct the series.

WeCrashed is set to premiere on March 18th on Apple TV+.
