Trailer for Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin's Drama Comedy A REAL PAIN

Searchlight Pictures has revealed the first trailer for the upcoming drama comedy film A Real Pain, which was written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, who also stars in the film alongside Kieran Culkin.

The film is based on Eisenberg’s own family history, and the story follows mismatched cousins David (Eisenberg) and Benji (Culkin) who “reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother.

“The adventure takes a turn when the pair’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history. A poignant, funny exploration of the unexpected permutations of intergenerational trauma.”

I had a chance to see this film at Sundance this year, and it was a beautifully made film that comes from the heart.

The movie had a perfect balance of drama and comedy with laugh out loud moments mixed with somber thoughtful moments that offers the audience time to think and take in the story and message that the film is trying to get across.

It’s explained that "Eisenberg's intimate, resonant script complements the tension and humor of the two very different cousins’ tumultuous road trip with a sensitively drawn reckoning of the legacy of World War II among the survivors of survivors."

A Real Pain will be released in select US theaters starting on October 18th, 2024.
