Trailer For Jim Caviezel's Anti-Child-Trafficking Thriller SOUND OF FREEDOM
Powerful trailer for Jim Caviezel's upcoming film Sound of Freedom, which is an anti-child-trafficking movie. The film comes from Angel Studios’ and it tells the true story of Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent who left the department after he was frustrated with the U.S. rescue efforts with trafficked children in third-world countries. This looks like a great film and it tells one of those stories that needs to be told.
The movie “shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.”
This movie is seeing a big pump in the box office with $7.2M in ticket presales before its July 4th opening at 2,626 theaters. The movie is opening on Independence Day given its patriotic themes. According to Deadline, The distributor has a goal of selling 2 million tickets per Sound of Freedom‘s Tuesday opening, which reps the number of kidnapped children in the world. Angel crowdfunded $5M for P&A expenses on Sound of Freedom, part of that policy is awarding their donators with 120% return.”
The film was directed by Alejandro Monteverde, which he co-wrote with Rod Barr. The movie also stars Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) plays Katherine Ballard and Bill Camp (Lincoln, 12 Years a Slave) plays “Vampiro”—Ballard’s right-hand man.
Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad back in 2013, which has conducted several sting operations to rescue children, some outside the United States, and donated technology and funds to law-enforcement agencies that combat sex trafficking.
