Trailer for John Carney's Wonderfull Feel-Good Film FLORA AND SON Starring Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt
The director of Once, Sing Street, and Begin Again, John Carney, has made a new movie titled Flora and Son. The movie stars Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for you to watch.
I had the opportunity to watch the film at Sundance earlier this year, and it was one of my favorite films at the fest. It’s just a wonderfully made, feel-good movie, and after watching it audiences will walk away from it feeling inspired and happy.
In the film, “Single mom Flora (Hewson) is at a loss about what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find Max a hobby, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up LA musician (Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music.”
The film’s story explores “the bond between a mother and son on a journey toward a new harmony.” As I said in my review: “I’m a big fan of Carney and his past movies, and like those, this one is pure magic that tells a beautiful and funny story about a feisty young mother living in Dublin, Ireland, who is co-parenting her troublemaker son. She’s at a crossroads in her life, and it’s at this point that she finds a guitar, gets it fixed up, and embarks on an inspiring journey of growth and self-discovery.”
Flora and Son also stars Jack Reynor and premieres in select theaters on September 22nd and on streaming September 29th. This is just one of those little indie movie gems that you’ve got to watch!
