Trailer For Kevin Spacey's Upcoming Micro-Budget Thriller CONTROL
The first trailer has been released for Kevin Spacey’s upcoming thriller Control, which is the first film of his to be released since he was found not guilty on all counts of sexual assault in the U.K. This is a micro-budget film, and regardless of Spacey being acquitted of the nine charges made against him, it’s safe to say that these are the types of films that Spacey will make the rest of his career because the damage is done.
In the film, Spacey plays a menacing presence who manages to hijack a government official’s smart car in order to exact revenge. Spacey is not seen in the trailer, he’s only heard. The actor recorded his part in London last December while he was waiting for his trial to start.
The movie was directed by Gene Fallaize, who told Variety he was glad he had stuck by Spacey. “I don’t regret casting Kevin and I would do it all over again.” He added: “When we met with Kevin, we said, you know, [the meeting] is for us as much as it is him. And we came away from there feeling nothing but good vibes and positivity and we didn’t get anything bad from him at all. So we said, ‘Okay, let’s go for it.’ It’s a risk but feel it’s a risk worth taking.”
The project also stars Lauren Metcalfe (Bridgerton) as Home Secretary Stella Simmons, and Mark Hampton (Liaison) as Prime Minister David Addams. There’s no word on when the movie will be released, but I imagine it will be a direct-to-VOD. The movie doesn’t really look that good or interesting.
