Trailer for Korean Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Thriller THE GREAT FLOOD Teases a Drowned World and a High Stakes Mystery

Netflix has dropped the main trailer for the Korean apocalyptic sci-fi movie The Great Flood, and it looks like a gripping, water logged fight for humanity’s future.

The film made its first splash at the 2025 Busan Film Festival, and now it is gearing up for a worldwide Netflix release. The fstory is set in a world swallowed by a catastrophic surge and a desperate scramble for survival as society collapses around those still clinging to hope.

The story centers on Kim Da-mi as An Na, a researcher trapped with her young son as the waters rise, and Park Hae-soo as Hee Jo, a member of a human resource security team whose mission ties directly to An Na.

The trailer raises all kinds of intriguing questions because the disaster imagery is layered with streams of digital code. There is also talk of an Artificial Intelligence subplot and it is not entirely clear whether An Na is meant to safeguard humanity’s data aboard a spacecraft or if something stranger is unfolding. The visuals play into that uncertainty which makes the mystery even more enticing.

The official synopsis teases: “A great flood has hit planet Earth. Many people, including An Na (Kim Da-mi) and Hee-jo (Park Hae-soo), struggle to survive inside their apartment building, which is sinking into the water.

“An Na is an AI development researcher and Hee Jo belongs to a human resource security team, who is trying to save An Na from the disaster. But why is Hee Jo trying to save An Na and who is behind it”

The Great Flood is the latest film from Byung woo Kim, the filmmaker behind The Terror Live, Take Point, Written, Omniscient Reader The Prophecy, and the series Reborn.

The Great Flood looks like a good movie and it arrives on Netflix on December 19, 2025.
