Trailer For Kristen Stewart’s Horror Thriller PERSONAL SHOPPER Which Was Booed at Cannes
Kristen Stewart’s latest film is an unconventional ghost story horror thriller called Personal Shopper. The film recently premiered at Cannes Film Festival where it was met with boos from the audience members. I guess it’s not that surprising, since a ton of films get booed at that festival. The film was directed by Olivier Assayas, who has directed several films that I’m not familiar with, but Stewart previously worked with him on his last film project, Clouds of Sils Maria.
Regardless of the boos, there were several critics and audience members that thought the film was good, so the reactions are obviously mixed. When talking about the how the film was received at the festival, the director said:
“When you come to Cannes, you’re prepared. You’re prepared for anything. Movies have a life of their own … people have expectations of a film and then the film is something else. It happens to me once in a while where people just don’t get the ending.”
Here’s the brief synopsis of the film:
Maureen, mid-20s, has a job she hates: seeing to the wardrobe of a media celebrity. She couldn’t find anything better to pay for her stay in Paris. And wait. Wait for a sign from the spirit of her twin brother, who died a few months earlier. Until then, her life will stay on hold.
There’s no release date as the film has yet to find distribution. As a fan of the horror movie genre, I'll try to keep an open mind while watching it.
