Trailer For Lee Daniels' Exorcism Horror Film THE DELIVERANCE; Netflix Paid $65 Million For The Rights To This

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming horror thriller The Deliverance. The streaming giant paid $65 million for the rights to this movie in a hot bidding war.

A lot of studios wanted to get their hands on this thing, but Netflix won in the end. The film is said to be based on the true story of a horrific exorcism, and after watching the trailer, I think it just looks like your average exorcism film.

I’m not sure what the fuss was all about for this movie, but there must be more than meets the eye than what is shown in the trailer.

Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) directed the film and this is definitely a different kind of genre for him to play in.

In the film, “Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.”

The movie stars Omar Epps, Glenn Close, Demi Singleton, Miss Lawrence, Anthony B. Jenkins Andra Day, Mo’Nique, Aunjanue Ellis, Caleb McLaughlin and Tasha Smith.

The film arrives in select theaters on August 16 and on Netflix on August 30.
