National Geographic has dropped the trailer for its upcoming documentary Lost in the Jungle, and it’s a powerful glimpse into one of the most astonishing real-life survival stories in recent memory.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmakers E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, along with Emmy-winning director Juan Camilo Cruz, the film tells the harrowing tale of four Indigenous siblings who survived 40 days alone in the depths of the Colombian rainforest following a deadly plane crash in May 2023.
The documentary pulls together first-hand interviews, immersive recreations, and animation to detail the incredible rescue mission that followed. Indigenous trackers and the Colombian military joined forces in a desperate race against time, showcasing an inspiring collaboration rooted in traditional knowledge and sheer determination.
As the synopsis teases, “After a deadly plane crash strands four young siblings deep within the Colombian rainforest, a dramatic rescue mission unfolds, uniting Indigenous trackers and the military in a race against time.
“For the first time ever, Lost in the Jungle offers the exclusive account of this incredible true story from all the children themselves and the rescuers who scoured the Amazon rainforest for a grueling 40 days and nights to find them.”
