Trailer For Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg's New Netflix Action Thriller SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL

Director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg usually make pretty good films together! Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day, and Mile 22 have all been enjoyable movies to watch. Well, they’ve got a new movie coming out on Netflix soon, an action thriller titled Spenser Confidential. Unfortunately, I don’t think the movie looks interesting at all. Halfway through the trailer, I was bored.

In Spenser Confidential, “Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) — an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.”

The film is based on Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland, but it was actually written by Ace Atkins. Parker, who passed away in 2010, wrote 40 novels involving Spenser. Atkins took over and kept the series going and wrote eight more books.

The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on March 6th, 2020. Watch the trailer and let us know if it looks like a film you might enjoy. Maybe you’ll see something in it that I didn’t.
