Trailer For MEDUSA'S VENOM, New Movie From Producers Of WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY
From Jagged Edge Productions, the producers of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, and Devil Works comes a new movie, Medusa’s Venom. The follow up to the snake horror, Medusa, the film will follow Lola, a newcomer welcomed into Medusa’s circle. After enduring a ritual to bring her closer to her sisters, she finds that what awaits is more influential and dangerous than she ever imagined, awakening the serpent within her. Directed by Chase Martins and written by Craig McLearie, Medusa’s Venom will star Becca Hirani, May Kelly, Connor Powles, and Ella Starbuck.
The trailer for this movie looks like it is a thinly veiled porno, but if done right this could be a delightful horror movie. With its predecessor sporting an impressively low 2.8/10 rating on IMDb, Medusa’s Venom has a pretty low bar set for it to surpass. If you like attractive women taking revenge against bad men too far and killing apparently all men in their path, then this looks like the movie for you.
Honestly, there actually is a lot of metaphor they could work with here if they care to which I genuinely hope they do. The original Medusa from legend was turned into a monster after being raped in the temple of Athena and the allusion to the myth is pretty apparent in these films as the women turn to snake monsters when men are abusing them.
I think there could be a lot for a director to say about how abuse can affect a person and how the world treats them after said abuse has happened. I don't think this particular movie will be very subtle or nuanced in its message, but the genre of horror is an often overlooked genre for a lot of deep and meaningful critique of culture lies. So while I don’t have a lot of faith that this movie will portray a very deep message, I think if they try then this will have the makings of an ok horror movie that is still worth watching. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.
Will they shed the skin of a porno level plot or will this amount to just a movie made to put attractive women in sexy outfits?
