Trailer For Netflix's Sci-Fi Thriller THE LAST HOUSE Traps Greta Lee and Wagner Moura in a Terrifying Mystery
Netflix has released the first trailer for The Last House, a new sci-fi thriller from director Louis Leterrier, and it looks like the kind of claustrophobic nightmare that will have viewers constantly asking, "What would I do in that situation?"
The film centers on a family of four who suddenly find themselves imprisoned inside their own home. There are no locked doors, no visible captors, and no obvious explanation. Instead, a strange storm surrounds the house, cutting them off from the outside world and turning their home into an inescapable cage.
If the premise sounds a little reminiscent of films like Vivarium and other psychological "trapped inside" thrillers, you're not alone.
The setup immediately taps into that same unsettling feeling of isolation, uncertainty, and the fear of being completely cut off from reality. The big question, of course, is what exactly is keeping them there and whether they'll ever find a way out.
The story follows Riley and Jason, played by Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, as they struggle to keep their family together while resources begin to run low and the pressure mounts. Their children are played by Riley Chung and Emma Ho, with Noah Alexander Sosnowski, Gabriel Barbosa, and Sam Lerner rounding out the cast.
The synopsis reads: "How long can you survive? A family of four are suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out, and must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped."
The trailer keeps many of its secrets hidden, offering only glimpses of the family's increasingly desperate situation while teasing the mystery lurking beyond the walls of their home.
The Last House comes from screenwriter Matthew Robinson, whose previous credits include Love and Monsters and Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die. The project also continues Leterrier's genre-spanning career, which includes films such as The Transporter, Unleashed, Transporter 2, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans, Now You See Me, Brothers Grimsby, The Takedown, Fast X, and Tycoon.
The trailer does exactly what a good mystery thriller should do. It gives viewers enough information to understand the danger while holding back the answers. The result is a creepy, intriguing setup that leaves you wondering how this family ended up trapped and whether the truth will be something grounded, supernatural, or completely unexpected.
Netflix will debut The Last House worldwide on August 7, 2026.
