Trailer for New MGM+ ROBIN HOOD Series Featuring Sean Bean and Jack Patten
MGM+ has released a new trailer for the adapted series Robin Hood, based on the classic tale. The series stars Jack Patten in the title role, Lauren McQueen as Marian, Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The show is co-created and co-written by John Glenn and Jonathan English, with episodes directed by Jonathan English (Nailing Vienna, Ironclad, The Outpost). It's showrun by writer John Glenn (Eagle Eye, The Lazarus Project).
The synopsis reads: “In 12th-century England, Saxons live under the crushing rule of Norman power. Among them is Robert of Locksley (starring Jack Patten), the son of a forester, whose life is shattered when his family is stripped of their ancestral home and his father is executed by the Sheriff of Nottingham (co-starring Sean Bean).
Gifted with the longbow, Rob grows from grief into rebellion, his fate forever entwined with Marian (co-starring Lauren McQueen), a noblewoman torn between loyalty to her family and her love. As tensions rise, Rob gathers a band of outlaws around him -- men and women with little in common but their Saxon heritage and desire to fight tyranny.
“In Sherwood Forest, they wage war against corruption & injustice, drawing the ire of Sheriff, Barons, Norman royalty alike. What begins as vengeance becomes something far greater: the legend of Robin Hood, a symbol of defiance whose struggle will shape the fate of England.”
This is another rehashing of the story we have all seen played out several times, but it may be a good one. The cast is solid, and it looks well made.
