Trailer for OPERATION TACO GARY'S Unleashes a Bizarre and Wild Fast Food Alien Invasion

Archstone Entertainment has released a trailer for Operation Taco Gary’s, a scrappy, off-the-wall sci-fi comedy that looks determined to embrace chaos at every turn.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Mikey K, also known as Michael Kvamme, best known as the founder of Funny or Die. If the trailer is any indication, this one leans hard into strange detours, conspiracy paranoia, and aliens hiding where you least expect them.

The story kicks off with two brothers who couldn’t be further apart on the belief spectrum. Danny, played by Simon Rex, is a full-on conspiracy theorist who’s convinced the world is barreling toward a global catastrophe.

His younger brother Luke, played by Dustin Milligan, isn’t buying any of it. At least not at first. When Luke lands a new job in Ottawa, Danny insists on tagging along for a cross-country road trip, certain that the journey will somehow prove he’s right about everything.

As they bounce from one Taco Gary’s location to the next, the trip spirals into increasingly absurd territory. Each stop feels stranger than the last, pushing Luke to question whether his brother has completely lost it or if there’s truth buried inside the madness.

The answer turns out to be way bigger than either of them expected. Taco Gary’s isn’t just a fast food chain. It’s the secret headquarters of an alien race plotting to take over the planet.

Once Luke realizes Danny hasn’t been making things up, the movie goes all in. Together, the brothers set out to stop total annihilation, fend off extraterrestrial invaders, and somehow deal with smug Hollywood celebrities along the way. It’s a premise that proudly sounds ridiculous, and the trailer seems happy to lean into that energy.

Alongside Rex and Milligan, the film stars Jason Biggs, Brenda Song, Arturo Castro, Tony Cavalero, and Doug Jones, who gets to suit up as the alien menace. If nothing else, seeing Jones in creature mode again is a solid reason to be curious.

Operation Taco Gary’s first premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival and later screened at the San Francisco Film Festival. The tone feels weird, silly, and maybe a little unhinged, which could either make it a cult favorite. The trailer makes it tough to tell if it’ll fully land, but it definitely looks like it’s swinging for something different.

Archstone Entertainment will release Operation Taco Gary’s in select US theaters starting February 27th, 2026.
