Trailer For Peacock Documentary GARY Discusses the Tragic Life of Actor Gary Coleman and His Suspicious Death
Peacock has released a trailer for the documentary feature Gary, about the life and death of actor Gary Coleman, who was best known for his role in the hit TV series Diff’rent Strokes (1978-1986). Coleman died suspiciously after a tumultuous marriage, financial troubles, and ongoing bouts of depression.
The 90-minute doc follows the actor’s rise to international fame and his struggles with living in the spotlight, along with the controversy surrounding his tragic death at the age of 42.
For the first time, Peacock promises, viewers will get insight into Coleman’s private world through exclusive interviews with fellow actor Todd Bridges, former managers, his estranged parents, and Coleman’s ex-wife.
Coleman, who grew up with his adopted parents, suffered from a kidney disease; the medications he took to treat his illness had an adverse impact on his size.
Still, he went on to become the highest-paid child actor on TV throughout the late 1970s and 1980s because of his work on Diff’rent Strokes and other shows. He died in 2010 in Utah.
Directed by Robin Dashwood, the doc was exec produced by Louise Norman, Tom Sheahan, Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein and produced by RAW. Gary premieres on Peacock on August 29th. Check out the trailer below:
