Trailer for Rebecca Hall's Deranged Psychological Thriller RESURRECTION

IFC Films has released the trailer for Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth’s upcoming psychological thriller Resurrection. The story follows a woman whose carefully constructed life is thrown into disarray when an unwelcome shadow from her past comes back into it, and it forces her to confront the monster she's evaded for two decades.

The movie comes from writer and director Andrew Seman and this is the synopsis that was shared:

Margaret (Rebecca Hall) leads a successful and orderly life, perfectly balancing the demands of her busy career and single parenthood to her fiercely independent daughter Abbie. Everything is under control. But that careful balance is upended when an unwelcome shadow from her past, David (Tim Roth) returns, carrying with him the horrors of Margaret’s past. Battling her rising fear, Margaret must confront the monster she’s evaded for two decades who has come to conclude their unfinished business.

I saw this film at Sundance earlier this year, and I personally didn’t care for it. It was mostly a dull film that led to a bonkers yet laughable ending. As I said in my review:

The end of the movie should be locked up in the looney bin. The whole movie pretty much builds up to this insane ending that is meant to shock you, but it just came off as laughable and silly and I couldn’t take any of it seriously.

When it comes to this movie, I don’t know what in the hell I watched. If you end up checking it out, you’ll see what I’m talking about, but I’m not going to spoil it for you.

IFC Films will release the movie in theaters and on-demand August 5th. Shudder will be the exclusive streaming home in November 2022.
