A trailer has been released for the shark encounter thriller Above & Below, starring Laura Marano, Antonio Banderas, Christina Ochoa, Diego Llinás, Timothy V. Murphy, Louis Mandylor, Jess Liaudin, Donncha Tynan, Ryan Bertroche, Ramiro Alonso, Rodrigo Poisón, and Mario Tardón.

The film is directed by Jesse V. Johnson (The Last Sentinel, The 5th Commandment, The Debt Collector) from a screenplay written by Tony Giordano.

The synopsis reads: “During a Mexican shark dive, 5 friends are ambushed after discovering cartel cocaine. Trapped in a shark cage, Tatiana & Kaley are forced by the cartel to go in & retrieve a bag of drugs on the seafloor.

“Battling legendary Great White sharks, dwindling air, and armed killers, the survivors mount a brutal fight to outsmart their captors and escape.”

This looks cheesy, but like it could deliver a few tense moments. The shark seems to give a pretty convincing performance.
