Trailer for STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II Shows Off Stunning In-Game Footage
Over the weekend EA Games released a new trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront II and it shows off actual in-game footage! I enjoyed the first Star Wars: Battlefront game, but this sequel is going to take things to a whole new level of awesomeness! Seriously, I'm in awe of what I'm seeing here and I can't freakin' wait to play this game! There's a brief clip in the trailer that teases a fight between Yoda and Darth Maul!
Battle Droids march into action behind a colossal Multi-Troop Transport. Legions of the Separatist confederacy descend on Theed. A whirling double saber cuts through a sea of troopers. Rey and Kylo Ren square off, blue blade against red. Prepare yourself to join huge battles for the fate of the galaxy across landscapes from the Star Wars™ prequels, original trilogy, and the new trilogy era.
The game will bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. One of the main characters in the game is Iden Versio played by Janina Gavankar (True Blood) who is a member the Inferno Squad, which is an elite Imperial special forces group. They've vowed revenge on the rebels after witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star. According to the story, which was approved by the Lucasfilm story group and is canon, Palpatine has safeguards in place if he were to die, these safeguards were instructions on how the Empire should continue to be run.
Players will be about to play Rebels as well, and even get to play as Luke Skywalker for at least one mission.
EA also announced that the DLC would be made available for free, which is so cool! Design director Niklas Fegraeus explained:
“I think the main thing here is to keep the community together. In terms of the brand, to me, when it comes to Star Wars, that’s a family feeling. If you’re a fan, you’re a part of the family. And splitting that up and saying, ‘If you have this content you can play here, but if you have this content you can play here.’ And if you don’t share, you will be split up. What we wanted to do was have a journey that starts at the launch of the game. So when the game launches, this journey starts with different seasons [of DLC].”
The first season will be released in December and it will feature content based on The Last Jedi. Finn and Captain Phasma will be playable characters in the DLC. It will also feature a new planet called Crait, and a space map for the planet D'Qar. As you'd expect, there will be more planets, characters, weapons, vehicles, and modes for future seasons.
Star Wars: Battlefront II is set to be released on November 17th!
