Trailer for STAR WARS: VISIONS PRESENTS – THE NNTH JEDI Unleashes an Epic New Anime Adventure

Star Wars is about to take another exciting step into the world of anime, and the first trailer for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi has finally arrived.

Revealed during Anime Expo 2026, the preview offers fans their best look yet at the franchise's first full-length anime series, and it looks like it's delivering everything that made The Ninth Jedi one of the most beloved stories in Star Wars: Visions.

After three seasons of the anthology series introduced audiences to a wide range of unique anime interpretations of the galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm is now expanding one of its biggest fan favorites into a standalone limited series.

If you've been hoping to spend more time in the world of Kara and the mysterious future of the Jedi, your going to get excited about this. I am! It looks great!

The new trailer is packed with vibrant visuals, fast-paced lightsaber action, and some intriguing new mysteries. Kara once again finds herself traveling across the galaxy on a dangerous mission while searching for her missing father and staying one step ahead of relentless Jedi Hunters.

Along the way, she crosses paths with a mysterious masked warrior who appears to be wielding a blue lightsaber, suggesting he could be a former Jedi.

The series continues the story established in The Ninth Jedi from the first volume of Star Wars: Visions and its follow-up, The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope, which debuted in Volume 3. Those two shorts only scratched the surface of this fascinating era of the Star Wars universe, and now fans will finally get to see that story unfold on a much larger scale.

Set long after the age of the Jedi, The Ninth Jedi follows a galaxy where the Jedi Order has all but disappeared. As powerful forces attempt to bring the Jedi back by forging new lightsabers, a blacksmith's daughter named Kara discovers she possesses abilities she never imagined and becomes caught in a growing conflict with the Sith.

One of the reasons The Ninth Jedi connected so strongly with fans is because it introduced an entirely fresh corner of the Star Wars universe while still capturing everything people love about Jedi mythology.

It also stands apart as one of the few Visions stories to receive a direct sequel, while expanding into manga and other adaptations along the way. Turning it into a full anime series feels like the natural next chapter.

The creative team is also returning to continue the story they started. Kenji Kamiyama is back as director and script supervisor for Production I.G., bringing continuity to the project and allowing the expanded story to stay true to the vision established in the original shorts.

Josh Rimes, executive producer of Visions, spoke about the scale of bringing the project to life, saying: "It was such a big endeavor – the first full-on anime Star Wars series, so we would support the team from early pitch stages through designs and production as the story was built out,"

The series will make its debut on Disney+ on August 5, making it the first ongoing anime series produced for the Star Wars franchise. Considering how well Star Wars: Visions has been received over its three seasons, this is a great evolution for the brand.

There's also plenty of potential beyond this series. Visions has introduced dozens of memorable stories and characters over the years, and if The Ninth Jedi finds success as a full series, it could easily open the door for other anthology favorites to receive the same treatment.

Right now, many Star Wars fans have been asking for stories that put the focus back on the Jedi, and this series looks ready to deliver exactly that. Anime has already proven to be a fantastic fit for the franchise thanks to its creativity, larger-than-life action, and willingness to explore ideas outside the traditional timeline.

After some recent Star Wars projects struggled to generate lasting excitement, Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi can remind fans just how fun and imaginative this galaxy can be. I can’t wait to watch this!
