Trailer For Steven Soderbergh's HIGH FLYING BIRD Looks To Change The Business of Basketball

Remember that time that director Steven Soderbergh retired from filmmaking? Yeah, that didn’t last long and he’s been working a lot ever since!

His next film is a basketball drama produced by Netflix called High Flying Bird and today we have the first trailer for the movie to watch. The story follows a sports agent named Ray Burke (André Holland) who sets out on journey to break the system of how professional basketball is run. He’s looking to take down the NBA and put control of the game back in the hands of the players.

This actually looks like a great and intriguing film and I’m in! I love a good sports drama and this one looks unlike any sports drama I’ve seen before.

The cast of the film also includes Zazie Beetz, Melvin Gregg, Sonja Sohn, Zachary Quinto, Kyle MacLachlan and Bill Duke. It also features NBA stars Reggie Jackson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Donovan Mitchell. Here’s the synopsis:

In the midst of a pro basketball lockout, sports agent Ray Burke (André Holland) finds himself caught in the face-off between the league and the players. His career is on the line, but Ray is playing for higher stakes. With only 72 hours to pull off a daring plan, he outmaneuvers all the power-players as he uncovers a loophole that could change the game forever. The outcome raises questions of who owns the game – and who ought to.

High Flying Bird hits Netflix on February 8, 2019.
