Trailer For Wes Craven's 1981 Amish Horror Film DEADLY BLESSING Starring Ernest Borgnine and Sharon Stone
This week’s retro trailer is for director Wes Craven’s 1981 Amish horror movie Deadly Blessing. This is one of Craven’s lesser-known films but it’s a good horror film with a cast that includes Ernest Borgnine, Maren Jensen, and Sharon Stone in one of her first major roles.
The story unfolds around the Hittite community, a religious sect living isolated from the modern world, led by Isaiah Schmidt (Borgnine). When a former member of the community, Jim Schmidt, dies under mysterious circumstances, his wife, Martha (Jensen), and her visiting friends, Lana (Stone) and Vicky (Susan Buckner), find themselves in a web of fear and terror.
After Jim's death, the Hittites believe that he was killed by the "Incubus," a demonic entity they consider a warning of something evil. The community becomes hostile to Martha and her friends, believing them to be associated with the Incubus. Meanwhile, a series of strange incidents and terrifying nightmares plague the women. As they grapple with the hostile community and the escalating terror, they begin to uncover dark secrets and their lives are put in extreme danger.
The film builds tension with its atmospheric horror and the suspense of who - or what - is behind the sinister events, culminating in a shocking twist ending.
