Trailer for the Adventure Thriller THE LOST CITY OF Z with Charlie Hunnam and Tom Holland

The first trailer for the upcoming adventure film The Lost City of Z makes a solid first impression. I love this kind of old-school adventure film. This story takes place in the 1920s and centers on a man named Percy Fawcett, who was a conscripted soldier and explorer who disappeared while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungle of Brazil.

The story has been brought to life on film with an impressive cast of actors that includes Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson. It was directed by James Gray, who previously made a film called The Immigrant, which was a fantastic movie.

The Lost City of Z premiered at NYFF, and it looks like it was met with positive buzz, so this movie might be worth getting excited about. Here's the synopsis:

Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, THE LOST CITY OF Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as “savages,” the determined Fawcett – supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide-de-camp (Robert Pattinson) – returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and obsession, told in James Gray’s classic filmmaking style, THE LOST CITY OF Z is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and those individuals driven to achieve greatness at any cost.

The Lost City of Z opens in NY and LA on April 14, 2017 and then it gets an expanded wide release the following week.

Based on David Grann's best-selling book of the same name, The Lost City of Z is the true-life drama which centers on British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon in the 1920s.
