Trailer For The AI Robot Doll Documentary MY ROBOT SOPHIA

Gravitas Ventures has released the trailer for an interesting documentary film titled My Robot Sophia. This documentary brings us inside the spirited pursuits of David Hanson, a restless inventor aiming to perfect the world's most life-like A.I. robot. The who think is a little freaky.

My Robot Sophia chronicles “David Hanson’s pursuit to create empathetic robots that can help solve some of humanity’s most pressing issues. For him, Sophia is more than a machine. She offers a deep connection and a glimpse at what the shared future between A.I. and humans might look like.

“As he works tirelessly in his lab, shaping Sophia’s lifelike face & building her intelligence, pressures from outer world are growing. When his mother’s health takes a turn for the worse and investors begin to question his vision, David’s unwavering belief in Sophia is all that stands between him and failure.

“With time running out, resources dwindling, will David and Sophia find their place in the world?”

The social humanoid robot was developed in 2016 by the Hong Kong–based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia was activated on February 14, 2016, and made her first public appearance in mid-March 2016 at SXSW in Austin, TX.

My Robot Sophia is co-directed by the doc filmmakers Jon Kasbe and Crystal Moselle. Gravitas will release My Robot Sophia direct-to-VOD starting on May 6th, 2025.
