Teaser Trailer and Details For The Anime Adaptation of ALICE IN WONDERLAND
For the first time, Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland is getting a theatrical anime adaptation, and the first trailer has been released.
This new interpretation of Carroll’s beloved tale brings a fresh twist to the classic story, introducing modern characters while staying true to the magical spirit of the classic story.
The anime centers on Rise, a contemporary girl who stumbles into Wonderland and crosses paths with Alice, setting off a whimsical adventure filled with Carroll’s iconic riddles and fantastical creatures.
Nanoka Hara, known for her role in Suzume no Toshimari, lends her voice to Rise. Reflecting on her role, Hara said, “I never imagined I’d be offered another voice acting role. It’s an honor to contribute to a medium I deeply admire.”
Alice will be voiced by 10-year-old Maika Pugh, who recently played Platelet in the live-action adaptation of Cells at Work. Maika shared her excitement about the project, expressing her hope that “families and friends can come together and enjoy the two girls’ adventures in the film.”
The creative team behind the project includes director Toshiya Shinohara (From Tomorrow in a Colored World, White Sand Aquatope), with a screenplay by Yuko Kakihara (Every Person in the Drugstore, Ao no Hako).
The film promises a visually stunning and narratively rich experience. The animation is being handled by P.A. Works, the studio renowned for SHIROBAKO and Skip and Loafer.
The trailer teases vibrant visuals and a reimagined Wonderland and it looks like it will be a great imaginative take on the original story.
The movie will first be released in Japan on August 29th, 2025.
