Trailer for the Anime Adventure Film GOODBYE, DON GLEES!

GKids has released a US trailer for the upcoming adventure anime film. Goodbye, Don Glees!. The series comes from writer and director Atsuko Ishizuka who previously helmed the critically acclaimed series A Place Further Than the Universe. This is Ishizuka’s first feature film, and it looks great!

The film is said to have “luminescent animation and lush backdrops”, and it’s described as “a tender coming-of-age story about the fearlessness of being young and the bittersweet journey of self-discovery.”

In the story, “Teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop call themselves the ‘Don Glees,’ an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.”

The movie already opened in Japan earlier this year. GKids will release it for a special event in US theaters on September 14th. 18th, and 20th.
