I don’t know about you, but for me middle school was no picnic. I hated middle school with a passion and when I look back at that time, I can’t help but just cringe at the absurdity of it.

Well, Hulu is looking to tap into those stupidly awkward middle school years with a new series called PEN15. To add a unique flare to the show, they creators decided to set it in the year 2000. Here’s the synopsis:

PEN15 is middle school as it really happened. Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle star in this adult comedy, playing versions of themselves as thirteen-year-old outcasts in the year 2000, surrounded by actual thirteen-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.

The series was created, written, and executive produced by Erskine, Konkle and Sam Zvibleman. Andy Samberg is also a producer on the project.

PEN15 will consist of 10 episodes and it will premiere Friday, February 8 on Hulu. Check out the trailer and let us know if it looks like a comedy series you might enjoy watching.
