Trailer for THE BUNKER Alien Invasion Sci-Fi Thriller Starring Tobin Bell and Tony Todd
A new indie sci-fi thriller is finally making its way to audiences after several years in development. Electric Entertainment has released the first trailer for The Bunker, a tense alien invasion story starring Chelsea Edmundson, Chad Michael Collins, Tobin Bell, and the late Tony Todd.
The film actually wrapped principal photography back in May 2021 in Los Angeles, but it has taken a while to reach release. After premiering at FrightFest in the UK in 2024, the movie is now gearing up for a VOD release this spring.
The story draws inspiration from the isolation and anxiety many people experienced during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns, which makes the bunker setting feel especially fitting.
Set during a global crisis, the story kicks off when mysterious alien ships appear in Earth’s skies. Humanity suddenly finds itself facing a threat it doesn’t understand, and one scientist becomes a key piece of the response.
Chelsea Edmundson plays Dr. Michelle Riley, a micropathogen specialist who is locked inside a secret underground bunker. Her mission is to develop a biological weapon capable of stopping the extraterrestrial visitors. But as she works deeper within the facility, the secrecy surrounding the operation begins to raise questions.
The official synopsis explains: “When mysterious alien ships appear in the sky, a scientist is sealed in an underground bunker and must create a bio-weapon to stop the unknown visitors, but paranoia and isolation cause her to question the true intention of her mission.
“As tensions rise inside the bunker, a group of survivors must confront an unknown threat while uncovering the truth behind the facility and the experiments taking place within it.”
The trailer leans into a mix of psychological tension and sci-fi mystery as the characters struggle with isolation, fear, and the creeping suspicion that something inside the bunker might be just as dangerous as the alien ships outside.
Alongside Edmundson, the cast includes Chad Michael Collins, Christopher Matthew Cook, Cullen Douglas, Debbie Fan, and Sharif Ibrahim. Horror icon Tobin Bell also appears in the film, and the cast features one of the final performances from the legendary Tony Todd, who plays Frank Lawrence, an army commander working with the White House.
The Bunker is directed by Brian Hanson, who previously helmed The Black String and episodes of the horror series Night Visions. The screenplay was written by Charles L. Bunce and Hanson.
Electric Entertainment plans to release The Bunker in select U.S. theaters and on VOD this spring.
