Bleecker Street and Showtime have released the trailer for an upcoming documentary titled 2nd Chance. This film chronicles the life of Richard Davis, the man who invented the modern concealable bulletproof vest and body armor. This dude shot himself 196 times in the course of his career to prove the effectiveness of his vests!
The movie comes from director Ramin Bahrani (Goodbye Solo, At Any Price, 99 Homes, The White Tiger) and this is the synopsis that was shared:
Broke, brave, and brash, Richard Davis shot himself 192 times. Why? To test his own new invention - the modern-day bulletproof vest and launch a multimillion-dollar company called Second Chance. He was a hero to police and the military, until tragedy and crime brought him down. His is an American story of guns, violence, lies, and self-deception.
This looks like quite a crazy and fascinating story and I’m definitely interested in watching this doc and learning more about this story! This guy was an absolute nut!
Bleecker and Showtime will release the film in select US theaters starting December 2nd, 2022.
